This is Very Long and probably too detailed! You know me! I'll post about the after show stuff a bit later. ;-) If you read the whole thing, maybe you'll get some Kevin and Harland eye candy! I'm still debating on posting the pics of us w/Harland and of Me with Kevin, does anyone want to see them? If so i'll post them, but if not, then i'm not going to. A simple yes or no comment would be much appreicated! :-D
Liz and I went to Toronto for The Cousins and Thinbuckle show at the Rivoli. I was so excited for many reasons. One being on the way there I could finally hear Mothball Mint.(I'd been waiting to hear it since I found out it existed!) Second, was getting to see The Cousins with Harland Williams, cause he's so sexie it should be illegal! Third getting to actually see Kevin and Thinbuckle Live!! And do I even have to mention that it was at the RIVOLI?!
So lets get the story going, eh? We get to the Rivoli around 7pm and stand out front by the sign that says "Barenaked Ladies Own: Kevin Hearn and Thinbuckle, with The Cousins freaturing Harland Williams." We were waiting to meet Lori, and while we were waiting Liz told me that I should take a pic of the sign, but I said for sure that would get attention, and I don't like getting attention, LOL. So Lori walks up and we shake hands....etc. She's very nice! I wish we'd have had more time to hang out, we'd have had alot of fun! So we chat for a bit and then she mentions that I should take a picture of the sign, and we start joking about what if Kevin or Harland walk up when i'm taking the picture....etc. So I take the pic and I swear maybe 5 min. later we hear Liz go "Look who it is...." I turn around to see Kevin and Harland laughing and Kevin saying "Which way should we go?" and as they started walking he looked right at Liz. Now here's where I think it's funny, because i'm like freaking out and Lori and Liz are talking about "stalking" and i'm like "no no" and the next thing I know we're following them! They went into the convience store and Kevin got a bottle of water, Harland got blue Gatorade. We didn't follow them into the store, we just stood by a pay phone near by. They head back to The Rivoli and so do we, except this time they're standing out side talking to Bob Scott(TB drummer!) and I couldn't make out who else. It makes me wonder if they noticed us at all. We were standing by the sign, they walk past, th en they are standing infront of the Rivoli and we walk by coming from the same direction? So we walk by and into the Rivoli and they set us right in front of the window so we could still watch them!!!
So after we eat, Lori asks where we could buy tix and so we go and stand in the hallway where she said to. It was pretty neat cause we co uld see Kevin during sound check. Although we couldn't hear them. It was just us standing inline and these chicks would come up and stand behind us thinking we were waiting for the bathroom. We got alot of weird looks but oh well. People kept walking in and out of sound check. Chris (Gartner, bass player!) walked passed and smiled and said "Hi" which I thought was cool! He's got a cute smile!
A bit after that Harland and Kevin walked out and told their relitives who were behind us inline that they were gonna go get some dinner. Which we thought was weird because it was like a quarter to 9.(which was when the show was *supposed* to start!) They finally let us in at I dunno what time. And standing there for so long paid off cause we got the best seats in the house, in my opinion anyway! ;-)
The Cousins came on some time after 10pm I do believe. They were fantastic! You can tell that they love to perform together! The chemistry is just awsome. Halrand's voice is so powerful, esp. live. He completely blew me away!!! Not to mention the fact that he was WAY hot. I found out later that I was the only one that had the Harland crush before the show, Liz got her crush after. They played all the songs from the album plus some new ones. I think the names were "Clown" and "Kathy." Can't remember if there were others. But after one song, might have been "Clown" Kevin was like "That gave me goose bumps" and Harland said "Really? It gave me SARS!" Harland was pretty damn funny. During the song "Clown" I didn't know wether to laugh or be sad because the song actually is pretty "heavy." Kevin doesn't make much eye contact but Harland did. It looked like he was lookg at me, esp. during "Walk Away", but I wasnt' sure and then Liz said it looked like it to her too so who knows....it was just cool even if he wasn't looking at me! They last song they did, they said it was a new song that they'd never played before but they'd try it and it had the line "jumping up and down on George Michael's face!" And then at the end of it Harland said "Now we're just fuckin improvising!" And it was over. :(
I really wished it had been longer. The whole night seemed to have gone by so fast. Kevin said to stick around and have a drink cause Thinbuckle would be up in a bit. So Liz and me decided to go get a rum and coke. A few min. later TB took the stage and the first thing I noticed was Kevin had changed shirts!! For sure the first song was "Night Light," not sure on the rest or the order cause I wasn't keeping track!!! A few I know he played for sure were: "Boat to Bubbly Bay", "Monkey Bird", "Chimbell Trains" and this new song called "Human Genome?" This song was great! I hope it makes it on to the next album. He also sang this song called "Obsessed" which I really liked, and I could have swarn he looked our way a few times while singing it!! They also played "War Pigs" which I absolutely Love! During "Chimebell Trains" towards th end he was trying to do something with one of those Fisher Price Xylophones, where you pull them by the string and it plays. But I guess it wasn't working the way he wanted it so he just dropped it to the floor, very cute! I still wanna know what he was gonna do with it?For an encore Kevin had changed his shirt yet again(not that I noticed right away or anything....again), and they played "Nine"(which was requested) and then "The Good One."
For the encores he was letting people yell requests. Still wish I wasn't so shy! Someone yelled out "Anna, Anastasia" and to that they got a plain, simple "No." So the last song was "The Good One." I was hoping he'd have ended it on a happy note.
